The good news is that I was able to pull multicast over the VPN on VLC by configuring a static IP on a laptop bridge to my windows ovpn client. The video is pretty choppy so I'm trying to figure out if it is a bandwidth issue at my house or if it is the overhead of the VPN. I have a 30Mbps/2Mbps connection through a cable modem at my house.
